The challenge

Climate change and the collapse of biodiversity are the biggest challenges we face today. Unfortunately, the French forests are struggling to meet these challenges. They are often poor in biodiversity (4 species or less for 94% of them). Transformed from the Middle Ages to meet wood production, they are managed according to this objective, and are not real refuges for wildlife. They store little carbon because exploitation, which is often intensive, releases the carbon stored in the soil.

The solution

With this project, and others similar in several regions of France, Semeurs de Forêts aims to recreate forest oases where fauna and flora can flourish quietly, limiting human interventions to the maximum extent possible. Once the land was purchased, volunteers reintroduced local biodiversity through planting operations of several thousand trees. The ground will then be left in unchanging. The purchase of land by Forest Semeurs allows the greatest possible protection of these places.

A recent result

To date, Semeurs de Forêts has already acquired three plots in different departments (Oise, Vienna and Eure), for a total area of almost 14 hectares. Planting operations have already taken place and nearly 5,000 trees have already been planted by more than 100 volunteers on all the land.

What the donations will be used for

The funds will be used to finance the purchase of the land, as well as planting operations that require the purchase of seedlings of trees, protections, flapping, tutors and equipment. The sooner the funding is received, the sooner the association will be able to launch other similar operations throughout France.
